The Pinterest Conference

We went to the Pinterest Conference in Dallas this year! Third year in a row. This year was different - we weren’t just crafters this time, we were Crafty Business Women, there to do research for our own small craft business.

Ok, maybe we’re mostly crafters. We bought stuff on pretty much every row - I thought the vendors were great this year. It took us all day to walk the floor (with a lunch break for tacos of course), and they had booze carts (which is smart, and might be why I bought stuff on every row).

I bought handmade dresses and craft kits for the girls, hairbrushes for the whole family, and some really neat hand warmers.

This year was also different in that we didn’t do any classes - the previous two years we did a few, but were always sad we couldn’t shop all the vendors in the same day.

Pinterest is so smart though. You can still get in on the crafty action with make-and-takes, and you get to interact with and learn from the vendors there with their crafts! Make-and-Takes are ~20 minute crafts that generally cost around $15-$20. You might learn something new, and you walk away with a cute little craft! We made watercolor canvas bags, small wooden decor pieces, and I made a candle! That one was my favorite.

Some Pinners Info/Tips:

  • If you plan on doing any classes, sign up early, set your schedule, and pre-order the kits. The classes fill up, and the standby line is always chaos.

    • That being said, they add more classes as the conference gets closer, so keep an eye out for any class swaps you want to make.

  • If you don’t plan on doing classes, sign up for their email alerts, and don’t buy your tickets until you get the 50% off or BOBO coupon. They usually send it a week or so before the conference.

  • The concession line gets NUTS at lunchtime. There are restaurants around, find somewhere better to eat!

  • Bring a bag to put purchases in so you don’t have to carry everything. I had a backpack, and Rebecca had a wheelie bag.

  • There’s lots of parking at the venue - if you don’t get there early, they’ll direct you to a parking garage.
